The Personal Safety App, Chaperown, allows a user to use any combo of the power and volume buttons on their smartphone to send SOS alerts to their emergency contacts.
The emergency contacts receive a text message with a link to the live location of the user. The user gets subtle vibration feedback in a musical pattern when an incident has started, and a different subtle vibration pattern when an emergency contact is within a 1km radius of them.
This allows for unmatchable stealth. Once the incident has subsided, the user can share it on social media.
But why stealth? Because sirens, and community alerts do not necessarily work in all countries or localities. We need a universal solution which works independent of culture, and independent of population density in your current location (think of the sparsely populated locales in cities).
Chaperown starts a user off with the Lite Mode, in which one simply needs to set how many buttons they want to press in order to send SOS alerts.
Over and above this, in the Plus Mode, the user starts off with 4 pre-defined "Safety Issues", namely "Stalking", "Harassment", "Potential Rape", and "Hostage Situation", all with their own pre-defined but customisable button-press combinations. Furthermore, the user can declare new, custom Safety Issues and have different button combinations for them. In case the user inputs the incorrect button combination, Chaperown automatically CORRECTS it for them!
Chaperown also ensures that your emergency contacts are all aware of whether an incident is ongoing, ended, or was triggered accidentally!
Stealthy notifications are enabled by default, in which the icon for the notification is that of a default text message, and the notification message is customisable as well, just in case somebody is peering over your shoulder!
All location data that is sent out from your device is instantly deleted as soon as an incident has been ended by the user, and there is no retention of sent data, data selling etc here.
AND IT'S ALL ABSOLUTELY FREE IN EVERY WAY, SHAPE, AND FORM!
So with all that said,
Welcome to Safety.
